Search and Rescue

In teams, following a map, the teams rescue a "sheep" from another area.  The teams follow different routes and are timed.

Symbols in the Pinetum

Preparing groups for the use of symbols.  Using a map, the teams find cards with symbols on them.  They copy them and find out what the symbols mean.

Walled Garden Search

Team 1 finds 8 objects and adds their own symbol to a map.  They collect the objects.  Team 2 uses the map from team 1 and places the correct objects back in the right place.

Point to Point

In pairs, the children collect symbols at certain points. This is a secret code.  They find out what their code means for information about an animal.

Ship Wrecked

Using a map, the teams find pictures of items that will help them survive on a deserted island.  They decide what things could be used for an build a shelter

Orienteering

Using a compass and makers, the teams us bearings to mark out a shape on the ground

Orienteering Trail

In teams the children use a compass and given number of places to find their way round the trail

Problem Solving in Jack's Belt

There are 8 short activities to do in this area.  In teams the children go from one to another.  Involves carrying, running, balancing and manoeuvering.
