A
school trip is an exciting adventure for the pupils but, a worrying
experience for the adults involved. We want to make sure that
your visit is as hassle free as possible and suggest here some of
the things which we would urge you to discuss with your class before
a visit.
- They need to know that they are coming to the countryside and
need to be suitably dressed. It is nearly always muddy at
Thornham and so we advise Wellington boots if possible.
If children do not have boots, then they need to wear strong comfortable
old shoes, such as trainers.
- They should wear long trousers if possible, to protect their
legs from scratches or stinging nettles.
- They should have a sun hat/sun cream in the hot weather.
- They should have a warm coat/hat in cold weather.
- They need to know that they should watch out for uneven ground,
be careful of overhanging branches and similar hazards of the
country.
- They need to bring a low impact packed lunch, you might like
to show them our power point presentation on low impact packed
lunches, see the teachers' home page, or they might like to play
a low impact packed lunch game on line http://www.fergusonfoundation.org/maintrashframe.html
then click on trash free lunch game.
- The accompanying adults need to be responsible for a number
of specific children, these children need to be told who their
adult is and that they must do what this person tells them.
