| Do
look at our 2008 course list,
and please do telephone or send us an
email to book a visit.
Once you have made a firm
booking, please go to the downloads
page and download the day visits information pack.
Please make sure the children
have wellington boots or suitable shoes. This is very important
as it is nearly always muddy at Thornham.
If your class is at Key
Stage 2, please could they bring a clip board and pencil.
Please make sure that
the children wear suitable clothes. Long trousers are recommended
to protect legs from scratches from brambles or being stung by nettles.
Warm coats in winter, sun hats and cream in summer.
Please make sure that
the children and parents are told in good time about the need to
bring a "low
impact packed lunch"
- accompanying adults too! The rubbish from packed
lunches will be separated into compostable and rubbish which will
end up in a landfill site. The landfill rubbish will be weighed
and we will produce a bar chart comparing the last ten schools to
visit Thornham. It is possible to leave no rubbish at all.
We have found that now more and more schools leave zero rubbish,
a huge achievement. Some schools make their own recycled
lunch boxes, have a look at some pictures.
Your school will be invoiced
after your visit. Please make sure that your Thornham tutor
is told the exact numbers of children you bring on the day for invoice
purposes.
Please make sure that
the adults you bring with you know which children they are responsible
for. That they know they are responsible for discipline and that
they are made aware of any risks involved with the courses you have
chosen for your class.
Safety is of the utmost
importance to us at Thornham. If you would like to come and
do your own risk assessments of your trip, do telephone to make
an appointment and we will help you in every way possible.
We hope that you enjoy
your day. Our aim is to make your trip an excellent educational
and enjoyable experience for you and your class. We appreciate that
bringing a group on a trip is a huge responsibility, we aim to ensure
that you the teachers, enjoy the day, can stand back and observe
your class being taught by someone else.
Please do not hesitate to contact
us if you need to know about any aspect of your trip.
